Default Roblox Movement Controls
Be an Anomaly or Guard runs on the standard Roblox control scheme. Whether you are sprinting through Backrooms corridors as a Guard or stalking survivors as an Anomaly, mastering movement comes first.
On PC, use W A S D to move, Space to jump, and hold Shift to sprint when the game allows running. The mouse controls camera look — keep sensitivity moderate so you can snap toward noise without over-rotating during chases.
On mobile, the virtual thumbstick handles movement while dragging on the right side of the screen rotates the camera. Tablet players may prefer a Bluetooth keyboard for Guard rounds that demand precise aiming. Console players use the left stick to move, right stick for camera, and face buttons for jump and interact.
- W / Up — Move forward
- A / Left — Strafe left
- S / Down — Move backward
- D / Right — Strafe right
- Space / A button — Jump
- Shift (PC) — Sprint when enabled
Interaction, Tools, and UI Buttons
Roblox maps interaction to E on keyboard or a dedicated on-screen button on mobile. In Be an Anomaly or Guard, you use interact to open doors, pick up items, activate terminals, and confirm lobby choices when prompted.
Number keys 1 through 0 (or the tool hotbar on mobile) swap equipped gear. Guards juggle primary weapons, sidearms, and utility tools — cycling quickly matters when an Anomaly breaches your line. If you own the +1 Equipped Tools gamepass, learn which slot holds your panic option before rounds start.
Press Tab or the inventory icon to review loadout details mid-lobby. During active rounds, minimize menu time; standing still while browsing inventory is a common cause of free deaths. Backquote (`) opens the Roblox in-game menu for settings — adjust graphics if frame drops blur your aim.
Guard Combat Controls and Aiming Tips
Guards rely on click-to-shoot for hitscan and projectile weapons. Left mouse button fires; right mouse button often aims down sights or activates alternate fire modes on supported guns. Learn each weapon's recoil pattern in a safe lobby rather than during a Locust swarm.
Keep crosshair at head height when clearing corners in Backrooms-style hallways. Pre-aim common breach points — junctions, stairwells, and dead-end alcoves where SCP-173 blink checks happen. Short controlled bursts beat full-auto panic unless you are point-blank.
Flashlights and utility items may bind to separate keys or share the tool wheel. Toggle light before entering dark wings so you do not fumble keys when Ao Oni pressure starts. Communicate with nearby Guards using Roblox voice or chat; callouts compensate for limited peripheral vision in tight maps.
- Reload when safe — animation locks movement on many weapons.
- Strafe while shooting to dodge Anomaly lunge hitboxes.
- Use doorways as choke points; do not reload in the open.
- Track sound cues — many Anomalies telegraph ability wind-ups.
Anomaly Ability and Stamina Inputs
When selected as an Anomaly, your controls shift from survival to hunting. Primary attack is usually left click or a dedicated ability button on mobile. Secondary abilities — SCP-173 blink rules, Boiled One burst dashes, GUILT debuff triggers — may map to Q, E, or on-screen ability icons.
Watch cooldown indicators at the bottom of the screen. Burning every ability on the first Guard you see leaves you vulnerable during coordinated sweeps. Smile Room players should learn zone placement controls if the anomaly uses deployable traps or area markers.
SCP-999 is support-oriented: abilities may heal or distract rather than kill. Read the in-round ability tooltip the first time you roll each anomaly. Difficulty labels on our anomaly pages hint at mechanical complexity — GUILT and SCP-173 demand more keyboard discipline than SCP-999.
Camera, Sensitivity, and Accessibility Settings
Open Roblox settings (Escape on PC) and tune camera sensitivity separately for first-person aiming stretches versus third-person lobby navigation. Lower sensitivity improves precision for Guard headshots; slightly higher sensitivity helps Anomalies snap during melee combos.
Enable shift lock (Roblox setting) if you prefer centered character movement in narrow halls — many Guard players toggle it when holding angles. Reduce camera shake and motion blur if available; horror effects can obscure telegraphed attacks.
Mobile players should enlarge the jump and interact buttons in Roblox mobile settings. External controllers on phone or tablet mirror Xbox layout and are allowed unless server rules say otherwise. Rebind nothing through third-party scripts; see our Scripts page for fair-play policy.
Quick Reference Before You Queue
Spend one private lobby pass testing every button before ranked-style public rounds. Confirm sprint, interact, tool slots, and anomaly abilities if you purchased 2X Anomaly Chance. Pair this page with our How to Play guide for round flow, then Guard Survival for team positioning.
Controls may shift slightly after icce updates — check patch notes on the Updates wiki when a hotfix drops. Report unlisted keybinds in community channels so we can amend this reference.
